Link to performance on thursday ->
W. Mark Sutherland does not work in one particular genre but searches for integrative elements. In his “objets soniques” (pieces of music), “bookworks” (books) or “objets poques” (art works) he overcomes the boundaries between language, sounds, pictures and objects.
At the Kunstvereinsheim he will bring “Kassels 1 st Noise Orchestra (NO)” to life with the help of the visitors, using party favours as musical instruments: clickers, whistles, cow bells air horns …
Film/Soundperformance
As a European premiere W. Mark Sutherland will show six videos at the Kunstvereinsheim which all originated in cooperation with Nobuo Kubota. Kubota is one of Canada's most well-known improvising free-style performance artists and musicians. Despite the differences in their ages and cultural backgrounds, the two artists share the desire to widen the possibilities of human expression, whereby they are united by the elements of space and silence.
