"Heimat lebenslänglich"

Film- and event evening

Christine Bänninger and Peti Wiskemann present the documentary film “Heimat lebenslänglich“, which they realized together with journalist Andreas Schürer and cameraman Jens-Peter Rövekamp.

The 65-minute documentary film revolves around 85-year-old Emil Frey, who lives in a dilapidated farmhouse – once in the possession of his family – in the middle of a modern housing estate in the community of Stäfa on Lake Zurich in Switzerland. Since Frey has taken legal measures against eviction, two worlds clash in the community: on the one hand there is the long-time resident and protagonist of the documentary who clings to his traditional lifestyle, on the other hand the new residents who dream of an idyllic life in the country. The film captivates the viewer with impressive images that evoke not only the apparent contrast, but also pose emotional questions.

The film team accompanied farmers in their everyday lives for a period of about seven months. Neighbours and other contemporaries have the opportunity to air their views as well.

In addition to the documentary film, Christine Bänninger and Peti Wiskemann will also initiate an event inspired by the story of Emil Frey and the location here in Kassel. We are in for a surprise.
