"Von Dosen verschiedenen Billigs und raffinierten Kisten"
Whether it be a question of urban, architectural or interior design, the atmospheric and sensual aspects are what characterise the works of Uli Exner and Sigrun Musa, who have run their firm INDEX Architects since 1990. To this team of architects, architecture means developing localities that have their own particular aura and touch people in their own special way. They call their attitude contextual, their approach perceptive psychology. The haptic and tonal qualities of a material, the atmosphere created by a colour, or the memories triggered by a particular series of rooms – these things that border on the unforeseeable are just as important to Exner and Musa as the purely pragmatic problems of construction and technology. These are the principles put into practice by this team of architects in the planning and realisation of the construction of anything from (council) housing or business architecture to product design or the planning of exhibitions at home or abroad.
Their lecture “ Von Dosen verschiedenen Billigs und raffinierten Kisten“ will centre on the topic of “feeling comfortable in rooms”.
Sigrun Musa studied interior decorating at the Fachhochschule in Detmold. She teaches architecture, specialising in interior decorating, at the Fachhochschule Dortmund.
Uli Exner studied interior decorating at the Fachhochschule in Detmold and architecture at the Städtelschen Kunstakademie and the Southern California Institute of Architecture in Los Angeles. He is a professor of architecture at the University of Siegen and teaches at the Yildiz University in Istanbul, Turkey.
Sigrum Musa and Uli Exner founded INDEX Architects in Frankfurt/Main in 1990. They live and work in Frankfurt/Main.
