Jürgen Fritz's artistic work
is characterised by an interdisciplinary approach in which he combines elements
from the areas of music, photography, video and body work to create performances,
performative installations and scenes of various natures. He uses simple
materials such as sticks of bamboo, marbles, tape and pocket knives with
great precision and concentration to create impressive pictures. Jürgen
Fritz, who initially worked as a director, curator and actor before dedicating
himself to performance art, is a founding member of Black Market International,
a cooperation of artists who have presented performances worldwide since
1985. Jürgen Fritz always develops his works at the scene of their
performance. This is also true of his performance “Stockhaus” at the Kasseler
Kunstvereinsheim. During the course of the two days of his performance he
will transform the room into a labyrinth of twigs and tape in which various
actions will be performed.
Jürgen Fritz, born in Schramberg/Black
Forest in 1958, studied Theater and Music at the Justus-Liebig -University
in Gießen. Jürgen Fritz lives and works in Hildesheim.
