"rauschgiftengelloops"
Brandstifter strikes sparks out of
many different sections of the art world in order to make a new and original
form of expression out of them. It is his goal to bring life into art,
and he makes use of chance as well as improvisation. In his works he combines
such different forms as new music, improvised music, action art, performance,
sound installation and sculpture.
In the Kasseler Kunstvereinsheim he will perform "rauschgiftengelloops",
an interactive sound installation for plastic angels, records and record
players:
Vinyl records will be played at different speeds on the record players
arranged on a small stage. Specially prepared plastic angels turn on the
record labels in the light of colourful, kitschy lamps. When the needle
of the record player reaches the gown of the angel, monotonous, spheric
sounds come about, repeating endlessly. Brandstifter intervenes in the
randomly generated hypnotic sounds, mixes them like a disc jockey and changes
records. He improvises a live performance of repetitive and yet ever-changing
trance-like sound collages.
