Three-Day Grand Opening Party

Many people will be asking the
same question when they see for the first time the temporary rooms, designed
by Werner Demme, member of the managing committee: "Is modernity our
antiquity?" Whatever. The grand opening ceremony at the Kasseler Kunstvereinsheim
begins with the request: "Please sit down": First of all, this
request goes out to those who have purchased one of the new transparent
chairs designed by Philippe Stark . They will be in the limelight of the
photographer, for this evening only will they have the right to sit in their
chair. Subsequently the chairs will be made available to all guests and
visitors of the exhibition - on loan. As in the Fridericianum and in the
Aue, there is as yet no art to be seen here. However, the index of names
hints strongly at what the Kunstvereinsheim will offer to the public. On
this evening the party will be in honour of the members and guests only.
The way in which you SIT - as one of the exhibits this evening - will be
recorded and transmitted by a webcam - not only in the Kunstvereinsheim
itself, but in the entire world on the internet at

EAT
"Bare life" is not enough for the Kunstverein, and art isn't either. That is why there will be delicacies to EAT on the second day of the grand opening. The Kunstvereinsheim will experience its first wondrous transformation: an seven-meter long table will be lowered, providing room for over 30 guests or an extensive buffet. The "catering artist" Dr. Hoppe (as seen in the January 2007 issue of "Natur+Kosmos") from Bio-Catering Marbachshöhe GmbH will take charge of these delicacies to EAT. He has agreed to accept the responsibility for the gastronomical well-being of the guests for the course of the summer and promises that "one price includes all" (January 18, 2007 issue of FAS), but not literally.

SEE
What's the sense in the Kunstvereinsheim with no art? As the locality and the names of the artists lead us to believe, there will finally be pictures on the third evening. A large number of those who will appear at the Kunstvereinsheim this summer have actually sent examples of their video art or videos of their current works. Tonight you will also SEE - and have the opportunity to enjoy a very special and varied preview.
